ENCOUNTERS

The past, in person.

Some stories are too good to remain on the page.

At About Time, we take historical personalities and events beyond their traditional settings, inviting audiences to engage directly with the people, perspectives and decisions that shaped the past.

On an island with a rich and colourful history, it’s people have lived through invasions, civil unrest and moments of shared pride in coming together. Along the way, strong characters have emerged helping to shape its future and forge new paths.

From an audience with a monarch to a dramatic account of an extraordinary event, our historically informed performances invite you to encounter history on a personal level.

Imagine questioning a monarch about the decisions that shaped their reign, challenging a historical figure on their beliefs, or discovering the personal stories behind extraordinary events. Meet the personalities of the past, brought to life by performers whose historical knowledge allows the conversation to go wherever your curiosity takes it.

What would you ask the people who shaped history?

Our historical characters can be brought into a wide range of historical events and settings with each encounter tailored to the occasion, location and audience. They can host debates, take part in panel discussions, answer questions in a hot seat interview or welcome guests to a royal audience. They might lead visitors on a tour through a historic site, appear at a special celebration, unveil a commemorative piece or play a central role in a public ceremony. Encounters can be designed for intimate gatherings, tours, school groups, conferences, festivals or large public events.

Whether you are looking for a short character appearance, a structured interactive session or a series of encounters throughout the day, we can develop a format that works for your event.
